History of exploring the ice
In the north pole they wanted to find a path of "Northwest Passage". They wanted to find this because they wanted to make trading and a good wealth for themselves. They came back with some coal and diamonds they thought of the north pole as a frozen treasure chest. The famous person who discovered the north pole was an american explorer Robert Peary he discovered it on April 6, 1909.
On May 9, 1926 Floyd Bennett and Richard Byrd were the first people to travel to the north pole by plane.
